Now that Suriya has completed '7am Arivu' and K V Anand is ready with the complete script of 'Maatran', it's time for the duo to start the film. We learn that the movie would go on floors after the wedding of Karthi, Suriya's younger brother.
"Suriya is extremely busy these days making arrangements and inviting friends and relatives for Karthi's marriage in Coimbatore (July 3) and reception in Chennai (July 7). He will be free only in the second week of July," say sources.
"Before the shoot, Suriya has to do some homework for his getup in Maatran, as Anand has asked for a more suave and stylish look of him. The shoot may start with a song which will be shot in an exotic locale," they add.
Produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram's AGS Entertainment, 'Maatran' brings together Suriya and Anand after the super hit 'Ayan'. Other members of the 'Ayan' team - music composer Harris Jayaraj and writers Subha are also there in 'Maatran'.
A Mumbai tabloid has come out with a story today (June 30) that Sonakshi Sinha has "opted out of Kamal Haasan's Viswaroopam"!
Sonakshi has opted out as her dates clashed with Prabhu Deva directed Akshay Kumar's Rowdy Rathod, produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The newspaper reports- “The shooting for Viswaroopam was to start from the first week of June but the plan was squashed when director Selvaraghavan walked out of the project. Kamal then decided to take on the directorial reins but has yet to announce when filming will commence, which has perturbed Sonakshi."
A source close to Sonakshi is also quoted as saying -"Sonakshi was extremely professional, while explaining her case to Kamal . There is no animosity between Kamal Haasan and Sonakshi.""
Simbu seems to be all over the place. The actor seems to be managing his time perfectly with simultaneously doing three films and being cool with it! And let us not forget his singing schedules too. The actor was recently in Mysore to shoot for the first schedule of 'Osthi,' the Kollywood remake of 'Dabangg.'
Reports are now flowing in that 'Podaa Podi,' yet another flick which sees Simbu in the lead has wrapped up shooting from Chennai. What remains now for the team, are some scenes to be canned at Spain as well as some songs to be shot.
'Podaa Podi' sees Simbu in the lead with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar debuting into Kollywood.Written and directed by Vignesh Shiva the film is a rom-com caper and with what Simbu is best at! A lot of importance has been given to the songs and the dance numbers which is sure to have some hip-hop and peppy dance numbers.
The film will also spring some surprises on the audience with Gautham Menon touted to play a cameo. The music for this film is by Dharan and sources close to the film reveal the songs have a fresh feel to it.
Of course, Simbu has crooned a couple of numbers with his friend and music director Yuvan wielding the mic for on of the songs. The title song is believed to have been belted out by Benny and Andrea Jeremiah!
Trisha, in a recent interview to a Tamil magazine, has said that she agreed to star in Mankatha only because the film had Ajith playing the lead. The actress said that she loved to work with Ajith and hence decided to sign the dotted lines despite her role being small.
Trisha made it clear that her role in Mankatha will not be as significant as it was in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya or Manmadhan Ambu but still she did it for Ajith.
On Ajith’s cooking at the Mankatha sets, Trisha said that he is a wonderful cook and Shalini is lucky to have him as her husband.

There is always a mandatory "meet the press" for all stars before their marriage. It is a sort of "bachelor party" for all male stars when they bond with media.
And our rising superstar Karthi wooed the media today (June 26) afternoon by holding a press meet where he handed over invitations to the media personally followed by a sumptuous lunch at a luxury hotel.
Karthi in his brief speech said that it was an informal meet with the media to invite them and hand over the invitations personally. He said: "I would have loved to bring Ranjini here but she will be scared to see so many people from the media, as she is a non-filmi person".
Later speaking , Karthi said: “I always wanted to marry a girl out of the industry and I am so glad that I found Ranjini, who understands me and my profession. She is a normal, simple girl and I am looking forward to a perfect married life".
On what he gifted Ranjini after their engagement Karthi said: "It was an i- phone which was useful for me too, as I wanted to chat and talk to her everyday".
The Karthi invitation to the media is only for the wedding reception at a five star hotel in Chennai on July 7. The actor's marriage is to take place at Coimbatore on July 3.
Surprise! Superstar Rajinikanth got the "Best Villain" award at Vijay TV Awards 2011, held on Saturday (June 25) at Nehru Stadium in Chennai !
His son-in-law Dhanush received the award on his behalf and also made an acceptance speech on his behalf.
Dhanush read out the short speech where the superstar thanked all his fans for their support and prayers. He also added that the superstar will be back in Chennai shortly.
Rajinikanth was also voted the "Favourite Hero" by the channel viewers across the globe. There was tumultuous response from the huge crowds at the stadium.
The shooting of Nanban is going on at a brisk pace and director Shankar has said that he has completed almost 60 percent of the film and has also finished filming the climax. The director has said that the “most complicated and difficult outdoor sequences of the film” have been shot already.
Shankar also revealed that the scenes that have been filmed so far have been edited and the dubbing process is also on. There is just one long schedule pending and this will commence next week and when this is done, the film will be wrapped up, the director added.
Rajinikanth is eager to commence Rana as soon as possible as it happens to be his pet project. He is now convalescing in an apartment in Singapore and will stay there until doctors give a clean chit on his health.
Only recently director Shankar had confirmed that the Superstar had called him and spoke to him regarding various issues. The star has now said to have invited KS Ravi Kumar, the director of Rana, to Singapore for discussions. Rajini wants to get on the sets of Rana as early as his health allows him to, say sources close to the director and actor.
Lately, there were so many rumours about actress Kajal Agarwal in connection with her alleged comment that she never considered herself to be a South Indian actress as she is a North Indian by birth. Though she subsequently issued her clarification, explaining that her comment, which appeared in a Mumbai tabloid, was misquoted by the media, the actress still cannot believe all this happened to her!
She said that she has no idea from where all these rumours started and was upset on hearing that South Indian film fraternity wanted to ban her. "I will never be disrespectful to the Telugu and Tamil film industry. I have been brought up to respect my roots. And my roots are in Tollywood and Kollywood. So I'm really hurt and angry that someone has started this whole 'ban' issue without as much as bothering to speak to me.''
Kajal flashes fire as she says, "I have not heard from any association nor have I heard from any one of consequence wanting to ban me because I guess everyone responsible and in a position of power knows the real truth. I have had super success in Magadheera, Maaveran, Mr. Perfect and with the grace of God, my career in the South is going upward. Why would I wish to give up something so good?'' The actress also maintained that she would do Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films simultaneously and there is no question of choosing one over the other.
After pairing up with Suriya in Singham, actress Anushka is now all set to share screen space with his younger brother Karthi. Reportedly, she has agreed to be Karthi’s heroine in his forthcoming film under the direction of Suraaj, who made Padikathavan and Mappillai.
Karthi is now busy with Saguni, directed by Shankar Dayal, and the proposed untitled film is expected to go to sets after Saguni. Notably, Anushka was the initial choice for Karthi's Siruthai, but owing to her busy schedule, she did not accept the project.
The Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Shriya Saran will be a part of Kamal Haasan's forthcoming Viswaroopam!
As per a source: "Sonakshi Sinha has been signed to play the main female lead in Viswaroopam. Shriya is likely to play the second heroine in the film and may be Kamal's love interest. The earlier director, Selvaraghavan, gave her a narration of her role and she liked it"
Shriya had been earlier signed to play a role in Kamal's Marmayogi and had even done a photo shoot for the film. And now that Kamal is directing Viswaroopam, Shreya stands a good chance to be part of the film.
