STR is a happy man. His Podaa Podi  is getting good reviews and is being appreciated by his core audiences, the youth.

Poda Podi Love Panlama Venama Song Release Posters

Says director Vignesh Shiva: “The main objective of Podaa Podi is to stick smile on your face right from the beginning which stays with you”.

Everybody especially ladies are loving the spectacular performance of STR and Varalakshmi. The unique blend of bitter-sweet moments and catchy dialogues has clicked with multiplex audiences.

A major plus for the film are the foot-tapping songs and Duncan Telford’s cinematography has also come for a lot of critical acclaim.

Nayanthara politely refused Simbu’s offer!

One of the highlights of Salman Khan's Dabangg was the Munni Badnam Hui,  the item song picturised on Malaika Arora.

Even the balm mentioned in the song had record sales. Now Silambarasan and director Dharani who are remaking Dabangg in Tamil as Osthi, are all out trying to rope in a big actress to do the item number.

The grapevine has it that STR and Dharani talked to Nayanthara to make one last "farewell item number" appearance and was willing to pay her what she would get to do a full film!

However Nayanthara, politely refused as she wanted Sri Rama Rajyam to be her last release, before she called it a day.

The latest we hear is that STR and Dharani are talking to Zarine Khan (girl who did Ready item number with Salman and is Vikram's heroine in Karikalan) and Malaika Arora.

A list of 'usual suspects'  like Shriya Saran, Mumaith Khan and Meghna Naidu is also being considered.

Simbu excited abt Gautham’s next project!

Gautham Vasudev Menon, who helped the actor to change his image with 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya',and also approached him to do a movie again, that is expected to go on floors next year.

However, contrary to earlier reports Simbu does not confirm that it is 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' sequel, but maintains they havent yet zeroed in on the script. We must remember that it was he who had given interview to a daily, a few days back, confirming on the sequel, but things seems to be unsure now, in terms of the script.

"I am not sure whether it is a sequel to 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' or a totally different script. But I am happy to join hands with Gautham Menon again," says Simbu, who is currently busy with at least three projects.

Heaping laurels on the director, he says, "Gautham knows the pulse of the youngsters well. The way he presents a love story is something different and extraordinary. And it was visible in 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya'."

Working simultaneously for 'Vettai Mannan', 'Podaa Podi' and 'Osthi', Simbu says, "I am happy to bag interesting and promising projects. I want to show some difference and improvement in each film of mine."

'Podaa Podi' shooting will be in Spain!

Simbu seems to be all over the place. The actor seems to be managing his time perfectly with simultaneously doing three films and being cool with it! And let us not forget his singing schedules too. The actor was recently in Mysore to shoot for the first schedule of 'Osthi,' the Kollywood remake of 'Dabangg.'

Reports are now flowing in that 'Podaa Podi,' yet another flick which sees Simbu in the lead has wrapped up shooting from Chennai. What remains now for the team, are some scenes to be canned at Spain as well as some songs to be shot.

'Podaa Podi' sees Simbu in the lead with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar debuting into Kollywood.Written and directed by Vignesh Shiva the film is a rom-com caper and with what Simbu is best at! A lot of importance has been given to the songs and the dance numbers which is sure to have some hip-hop and peppy dance numbers.

The film will also spring some surprises on the audience with Gautham Menon touted to play a cameo. The music for this film is by Dharan and sources close to the film reveal the songs have a fresh feel to it.
Of course, Simbu has crooned a couple of numbers with his friend and music director Yuvan wielding the mic for on of the songs. The title song is believed to have been belted out by Benny and Andrea Jeremiah!

Unlike VTV, Vaanam and Podaa Podi (ongoing), Vettai Mannan will have lots of action with a strong comedy element. Interestingly, Nelson has worked with Simbu in Manmadhan and Vallavan. Vettai Mannan, an action-packed gangster story, is Simbu's costliest film till date (30 to 40 crores). Reportedly the film will narrate the egoistic conflict between two men who work under a don.

Jai of Subramaniapuram fame will play an important role (as Simbu's friend) in this film which will be shot in Chennai, United States and Mexico; Yuvan Shankar Raja will compose its music.

Silambarasan’s Vettai Mannan has begun!

Vettai Mannan is going to be an action film and a complete entertainer. Silambarasan is very fond of this genre and after experimenting with his roles in VTV and Vaanam, he will go back to playing a charismatic mass hero in this film.

Simbu’s fans protest against BJP

Fan club members of STR were involved in a protest against BJP for garlanding slippers for the actor's cut-out at Tambaram MR Theatre.

The protest was held by around 100 Simbu fans at the BJP office in T. Nagar .

Simbu's fans

The Police arrived soon at the spot and insisted the fans to clear the area as the permission was denied for the protest.

But the fans were quite determined about fighting it out for the sake of their hero. Finally, the police arrested 50 fan club members.

Says STR's dad T Rajendran: "There is nothing wrong in the gesture of fans as they are up here for the right reason. Vaanam boasts of an outstanding message to take home and it has created a huge impact on audiences and nothing is there in the film which hurts the feelings of any community."

TR himself rushed to the police station and released the 50 fan club members.

This, it is said, will have an impact on the release of ‘Vaanam’, which is scheduled for the Valentine’s Day weekend. “Attempts will however be made to release the film as soon as possible,” they add.
