Ramba back again

After almost three years, actress Ramba makes her comeback in Kollywood with ’Vidiyum Varai Kathiru’.

A once sought-after glam doll, Ramba had played her part exceedingly well in several films including Rajinikanth’s ’Arunachalam’ and Kamal Haasan’s ’Kadhala Kadhala’. She even ventured to produce a movie titled ’Three Roses’ which featured Jyothika and Laila besides her.

Ramba, who established a place for herself in Tollywood, is now hosting a dance show in a private satellite channel.Says Ramba, ’ I was waiting for the right script. Though several offers came my way, I was not keen on making a hurried return. Fortunately the right script came my way with ’Vidiyum Varai Kathiru’.

The movie features Prakash Raj in the lead role. Plans are on to make the film simultaneously in Telugu as well.

Simbu pairs up with sarath's daughter

Varalaxmi, daughter of noted actor Sarath Kumar is making her debut in Kollywood.She will play the lead role in ’Poda Podi’ to be produced by Shanaya Tele Films. Varalaxmi obtained her Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Edinborough University and formal exposure to acting in the acclaimed Anupam Kher School of Acting in Mumbai.

Shanaya Films had churned out several Hindi movies like ’Champion’ starring Sunny Deol.The movie directed by Vignesh Siva features Silambarasan in the lead role. The entire film would be shot in Canada.Varalaxmi, who is well versed in Salsa and Ballet, was flooded with several offers. Beginning her journey with the blessings of Radhika Sarathkumar and Sarath Kumar, she is keen to scale greater heights.

On his part, Sarath Kumar said, ’ I always encourage and motivate my children. Though she chose to become an actress, I wanted her to complete her studies first. Having completed her education and preparing herself for her launch in tinsel town, I gave her the go ahead’.

It is interesting to note that when the same news was published some weeks ago, there was a lot of denial in the air. But then all the confusion has been put to rest and it is official and confirmed. Varalaxmi is starting her journey in tinsel town.

Gopika's betrothal took place in Trissur

It is the season that brings about a lot of cheer and happiness for actress Gopika. She has been betrothed with Ajilesha, a medical practitioner based in Ireland. The betrothal took place in Gopika’s home town of Trissur and the marriage will take place in Ernakulam on the 17th of this month.

Joy’s Palace was the five-star-hotel in which the betrothal took place amidst scores of relatives and well wishers. Apart from close relatives and friends Kerala State ministers in the form of Rajendran and Viswanathan were present. Actors Bhavana, Biju Menon, Samvirtha, Ramya Nambeesan, Samyuktha and many more were also present.

Dressed in a stunning red and yellow gagra choli, Gopika looked as pretty as ever. The couple gifted each other with diamond rings.The marriage will take place on the 17th of this month at the St. Thomas Church in Ernakulam followed by a reception party at the Avenue Center on the 20th.

After marriage, the couple will settle down in Ireland.

Rajini's kuselan in kannada too

Noted Malayalam actor Srinivasan’s ’Katha Parayumbol’ is going places rather quickly. The acclaimed Malayalam hit is now ready for release in Tamil and Telugu starring Rajinikanth.Titled ’Kuselan’ and ’Kathanayukudu’ in Tamil and Telugu respectively, the movie is directed by P Vasu.

Buzz is that director Priyadarshan has already starting work on the project and plans are on to remake it in Hindi with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.Rumors are doing the rounds that efforts are being taken to remake the movie in Kannada now. In all probability, Ramesh Aravind and Golden Star Ganesh might be part of the project.

The film is all about two childhood friends among whom one becomes a superstar in the movies and the other becomes a rustic barber.The sensitive theme of the movie has already created waves and it looks like the story would be very valid across cultures.

Sniktha as Lawrence's lover girl

Sniktha, the model from Delhi who did a sizzling item number Kathaaza Kannale… in Anjathey, has signed another film in Tamil. She is going to play as Lawrence’s lover girl in his forthcoming Shakthi Chidambaram directed Rajathi Raja.

Sniktha is currently playing with her mentor Myshkin in Nandalala in which he is debuting as hero. Rajathi Raja is being projected as a glamour film with six heroines and recently Sandhya opted out of the project. Now Sniktha is playing the same role that denied by Sandhya.

Superstar Rajinikanth as sage Thiruvalluvar

Superstar Rajinikanth may play the role of ancient Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar in the Rs 50 crore plus movie St. Thomas produced by the Catholic Archdiocese of Chennai. The film will also have actors like Ajith, Vijay and Vikram in guest roles. The film was launched by chief minister M. Karunanidhi recently in Chennai.

"Hollywood actor James Caviezel who played Jesus in Passion of the Christ may act in our film as Jesus. Some other Hollywood actor will play St. Thomas," says Dr Paulraj Lourdusamy, chief researcher and script-writer of the film. "An important part of the film is St. Thomas’ meeting with sage poet Thiruvalluvar. We thought Rajinikanth would fit that role perfectly. We are trying to rope him in for the project," Paulraj adds.

Dr Paulraj, who has three doctorates earned from various foreign universities, spent one year in libraries across the world to find the existing literature on St. Thomas. Well-versed in French, he did the script in French first and then in English. The film will be made in Tamil and Malayalam first and will then be dubbed in Hindi. The shoot will be conducted in Idukki and Munnar region in Kerala which still preserves the 2,000-year old bio diversity intact.
