Divya's No to multistarrers

Actress Divya Spandana, who was offered the heroine role in Jeeva-Srikanth starrer Drohi, says she wasn’t inclined to take up the role. Ask her why and she immediately says it is because she has a policy against doing a double-heroine subject. ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, the actress immediately points out, was only an exception as her character turned out to be the most important of the three. Yet another reason was also that the role required her to play mum and daughter, a move she decided against in this stage of her career.

The actress, who is currently working in Milind Rau’s ‘Kadhal 2 Kalyanam’, says she is eyeing the top slot in Kollywood and is working hard to get herself an identity here. For this, the actress contends that a double heroine subject does not help and so, she has decided against starring in them. After working in ‘Kadhal 2 Kalyanam’, the actress will pair up with Jeeva in his next flick, ‘Singam Puli’.

Maddy loses his voice

The stand off between Madhavan and his Avan Aval Adhu producer Gaurav Sharma is getting bizarre. Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) was forced to intervene, and the producer was given the green signal to release the film. Maddy refused to dub for the film, as part of his salary is still pending. Gaurav Sharma was left with no other alternative than using a dubbing artist to dub for the star, as the film is scheduled to release on May 29.

The film directed by Kona Venkat is said to be an `edge of the seat thriller` and features two heroines Sada and Shamita Shetty. The film, which was earlier titled Leelai, is a remake of the Ram Gopal Varma-produced Hindi film Darling. Madhavan who is training to do martial arts in Hong Kong for a forthcoming Bollywood film, told sify.com: "First let the film release, then I will comment".

Shriya’s variety fare

Shriya, who has been moving betwen Hollywood and Bollywood during the last couple of years, is back to Tamil films. Kanthaswamy, Kutty, Thoranai and Jaggubhai constitute her latest line-up. Shriya’s roles in all these films are different and interesting. In Kanthaswamy, Shriya is the independent city slicker who is ready to lock horns with anyone to prove her point of view. As Kanthaswamy’s heroine, she shares a love-hate relationship with the hero. In Kutty, she is a naïve village girl who falls in love with a boy from the neighbourhood. In Thoranai she is again the carefree city girl who plays her life’s games in a cool and composed manner. In Jaggubhai, she is a pampered rich girl who is taught sense by her father, the older Sarathkumar.

Simbu to direct his next movie!

Simbu and Gautham Menon have almost completed Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, and there are lot of expectations as Simbu is known to experiment with new roles while Gautham is a stylish film maker. According to sources, the two have been seen brainstorming on several occasions with several ideas! Simbu has more plans, has decided to direct his next film, and is busy working on the script. When Simbu is in the driving seat, we can always expect a twist in the story and there is bound to be excitement.

Apparently the movie will be produced by Nic Arts, and a title has not yet been finalized. Is Simbu playing a double role in the film? Nowadays, many heroes are experimenting with dual roles and are even ready to essay characters with negative shades; but will Simbu fall in the same category? Let us hope that Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya is a success and the actor entertains us with more challenging roles.

Arya and Shriya to go Balle Balle

The first schedule of the Arya - Shriya starrer Chikku Bukku has just been wrapped up. It was shot in and around Kariakudi, Ooty, Kunoor and Mysore. In the second schedule, spanning Indian and international locations, the crew has plans for an Austrian trip to film a song besides Coorg and Goa in India. Chikku Bukku’s music will be the highlight of the movie, according to director K Manikandan. Scored by the Colonial Cousins fame Hariharan & Lesli Lewis, the album will have a song by Wadali Brothers, the noted Punjabi folk singers from Amristar. Other than the lead pair, the movie also has Santhanam, Jegan and Preethika, Amrita Rao’s younger sister in a meaty role. Chikku Bukku is produced by Media One Global Entertainment.

Karthiga ties the wedlock

Popular actress Karthiga’s marriage with Merin Mathew was solemnized yesterday at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Thevalakkara. Hailing from Mainagapalli in Kollam, Merin, the son of Mathew Vaidyan is a medical officer, and is settled in America. Karthiga who earlier admitted that they have been in love for the last two years have got the consent from their parents and the marriage was a family affair, attended by a fairly large crowd.

Karthiga whose original name is Lidiya Jacob, is the daughter of Malayiram Tiruthupuramadam Veetil P K Jacob and Alice. Karthiga shot to limelight with her roles in movies like ‘Dindukal Sarathy’, ’Nam Nadu’. She also has done some good projects in Malayalam. Karthiga will hold a reception at Thrikakara Bharat Matha College Auditorium, today, for members of the cine field, and her friends. We wishes Karthiga a happy married life.

Priyamani to wed Tarun?

Just a few hours after Tollywood’s hot babe Priyamani denied rumours on her romantic link with actor Tarun, it is now heard that the actress has finally decided to marry Tarun, her Nava Vasanthan (2007) hero. This development reportedly occured after Tarun’s mother came to know about their affair and agreed for their wedding. Sources say that the marriage is likely to take place after they complete their ongoing assignments. The couple was often spotted getting cozy at many five star restaurants and Tarun recently gifted the actress an expensive luxury car.

Contradicting these reports, Priyamani earlier said: “Tarun and I had great fun during the shooting of Nava Vasantham, but we hardly met with each other after the shooting was completed. Then how could we be in love? Tarun, Ankita and I got along well on the sets. Tarun and I never met again on a personal level." Priyamani had also denied the rumours that Tarun gifted her a Toyoto Innova, saying, "Why do people malign actresses with cheap rumours? I bought the Innova in Hyderabad with my hard-earned money. No hero gifted it to me. It is my personal car."
