Kamalesh Kothari, a financier based in Chennai, has filed a petition against Soundarya Rajinikanth and has asked for a stay order on the release of Goa. Goa, which is slated for release on January 29th, has been produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ochre Studios.
According to the petitioner, Soundarya approached him for a Rs. 2-crore loan and promised Rs. 30 lakhs as royalty along with the interest. She also promised to return the amount even before the release of the film. With the impending release, there is no sign of her returning the amount, states the petitioner.
The issue will be taken up for hearing on January 28th 2010. Let’s wait for the outcome.

Andrea Jeremiah, one of the lead actors of Aayirathil Oruvan, has said she is disappointed with the way her role has finally turned out in the film. The actress however said she would not regret being a part of the movie.
’Yes, I am disappointed with the limited scope of my role in Aayirathil Ouvan. But I am not going to regret for it. Because Selvaraghavan is one of the best directors of Tamil cinema and it was a great learning experience for me while working with him,’ she says.

After a long holiday in the US, Trisha is back to work.We hear that the pretty actress is currently shooting the final montage song (Aaromale…) for Gautham Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya in Alleppey in the backwaters of Kerala – the director’s favourite song sequence location.

The logo of Captain TV was launched on Jan 14th by the popular actor and DMDK leader Vijaykanth.

The former glam queen of south cinema Rambha will get engaged to the Canada-based Tamil businessman Indran today, January 27.
The two have been linked ever since Rambha was signed on as the brand ambassador of Indran’s company Magic Woods. The affair all but became public when Indran gifted Rambha a BMW car.
Initially, Rambha had alleged that her relationship with Indran was just professional but now she’s set to exchange engagement ring with him at a five-star hotel in Chennai today.
Rumour has it that the marriage will take place in Tirupati on March 27, exactly two months from now.

When Soundarya's brother-in-law Dhanush was questioned about the wedding, he said in a recent interview to a Tamil magazine that it is Soundarya's personal matter and he would not discuss it in public. Keerthi Chawla has finally landed in something for which she was longing for. We are talking about ‘Kulasekaranum Koolippadayum’, a film in which the actress is doing a ‘very meaty’ role, that of a blind.
“Though I have acted in many films in Tamil and Telugu, I was waiting for a meaty role which would give me enough scope to perform. I had been finally roped in to play a visually challenged person in Kulasekaranum Koolippadayum’, she says.
The actress is wearing a contact lens with grey tint for the movie. “I am hopeful that my character in the film would be talked about. My gratitude to director Siva for choosing me for the role,” she says.
‘Kulasekaranum Koolippadayum’ has Prakash Raj, Sathyaraj and Natraj in lead roles. The other heroines of the film are Udhayathara and Sowmya. Meanwhile, Keerthi Chawla is acting in a Telugu film after a long gap. Titled ‘Sathyam’, the movie has Jagapathi Babu and Priyamani, apart from Keerthi.
Officials from the Income Tax department today reportedly raided the houses of actor Suriya and filmmaker K S Ravikumar in Chennai.
Reports claimed the raids that started in the morning continued till the afternoon. Authorities arrived as teams at Suriya's residences at T Nagar and Adyar, and K S Ravikumar's house at T Nagar.
The raids commenced simultaneously at all the places at 7 am, reports added. However, no information was provided on what the authorities found during the raids.
The 5 year old court cases following her comments on women and virginity seems to be still haunting Kushboo. Her appeal to the Supreme Court, challenging the 20 something odd cases against her in Tamil Nadu, is met with the ire of judge K G Balakrishnan who observed her comments as indigestible and unacceptable.
The case was considered for hearing today and after review, judge K G Balakrishnan, instructed Kushboo to send explanation to the court on her comments within a period of two weeks.
Kushboo found herself in the eye of the storm in 2005 after her opinions favoring pre-marital sex and stating that ‘an educated man should not expect their brides to be virgins’.
Multi-talented Silambarasan has recently rendered his voice for composer S.S. Kumaran of Poo fame. The composer is back with a movie titled Nellu starring newcomers Sathya and Bhagyanjali in the lead roles.

Now sources close to the director reveal that editor Srikar Prasanth has prepared a rough cut for dubbing purposes. The dubbing process of Prithviraj, Priyamani, crowd voices and other supporting characters is completed.
The director is now busy hunting for Aishwarya's voice and Govinda's voice. Sources in the know say that famous dubbing artist Savitha was seen in Prasad Studios, where the dubbing process of Raavana is on.
Once the dubbing is over, Raavana’s sound effects will start immediately, followed by re-recording works in Rahman’s AM Studio in Chennai, possibly by February second week.
Last week Ilayathalapathy Vijay was shown a sneak preview of director Siddique’s Malayalam film Bodyguard at a Chennai preview theatre.
He was accompanied by his wife Sangeeta. The film has Dileep and Nayanthara in the lead and is releasing in Kerala on January 21.
Siddique is one of the most successful film directors in south India who has made 9 films in 22 years and all of them have been super hits. Vijay and Siddique go a long way back to their Friends days.
It seems Vijay loved Bodyguard a romantic comedy with some family sentiments and action, and wants to remake it as his 51st film after he completes Sura.
Says Siddique: “Actually when I narrated Bodyguard story to Vijay two years back he was very keen to do it first in Tamil, but I always try out my films in Malayalam then only I will do in other languages.”
Last week when Vijay was in Thiruvananthapuram, he told the media that after Sura, he will be doing the remake of the Siddique film. The buzz is that he is waiting for Bodyguard to release and gauge its box-office performance, before formally announcing its remake as his next project

Namitha’s magic works again and the producers of ‘Black Stallion’ are galloping their way to the bank. Yes, reports from the South indicate that the trilingual movie (in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu) has managed to break-even and might even rake in a handsome profit.
The movie has Namitha playing a sexy bar dancer who is constantly being wooed by lusty men. Kalabhavan Mani, who plays the eponymous hero, tries to woo her but only gets stabbed by her. The film’s other hero, Bala, plays a photographer who promises to help Namitha reform her life.
One reason why the movie managed to break even could be that it was made on a shoe-string budget of Rs 2.85 crore in the first place. Secondly, the intensive publicity campaign that focused on Namitha’s glamour and sexiness seems to be paying the dividend.
Critics may have panned the film but the fans are loving it. And at the end of the day that’s what matters for Namitha and the film’s makers.
Silambarasan has completed Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya and is moving on to Ko, as announced earlier. However, there is buzz in the tinsel town that his proposed directorial venture Vaaliban is based on his brief fling with Nayanthara in real life.
Reacting to this, the actor has said that he was disturbed about reports that Vaaliban is inspired from his love life. He says that while the world knows about the love he shared with Nayan and the subsequent rift, Vaaliban is all about one-side love. So where is the similarity, asks Silambarasan.
He reveals that the heroine in the film will never love the hero, so the question of touting the film as a real life love story does not arise.

Chandrasekharan, producer of Ghajini has sought a stay order on AO release. According the plaintiff, the producer had entered into an agreement with Selvaraghavan for making a Tamil film Kasimedu and also has paid Rs. 1.10 crore for the production of the film. But neither the film was completed, nor the director returned the money.
Reportedly their agreement spelt out that unless Kasimedu was completed, Selvaraghavan could not undertake any other project. Now with AO all set for a Pongal release, Chandrasekar has sought a stay order on AO release until he gets his due back. The court has stayed the release on AO till January 20th. Now an out of court settlement is being worked out by the parties.
Let's hope that things will be sorted out and the movie will release as scheduled.

Rajesh who believes in shooting in realistic locations went to Kumbakonam main bus stand and asked his lead pair to board a local city bus!
It created a stir and they could shoot only for half an hour before the crowd became uncontrollable. They had to shift the location as almost the entire people near the bus stand came to see Nayanthara!
Just even when the shock over the release of ‘Jaggubhai’ film footages uploaded illegally on the net has not subsided, Vijay’s under production ‘Sura’ is also said to have fallen at the hands of some unscrupulous elements. News is abuzz that some raw scenes of ‘Sura’ film are available on the net. Some look like random footages shot using a cell phone camera by bystanders on the location. Some still photos of the film are also said to be available on the net.
What ever it may be. The cyber crime authorities must act quickly this time and investigate to nip it in the bud. The film industry which expressed solidarity to curb the menace only a few days ago must stand united again to save the industry.
