Actress Padmapriya is sharpening her nascent directorial skills by working as assistant to Cheran on the sets of Pokkisham. Cheran, who completed his work in Raman Thediya Seethai recently, is not only directing Pokkisham, he is also playing its protagonist. This film has all the elements peculiar to a Cheran film; nostalgia being the prime element.
In Pokkisham, Padmapriya pairs up with Cheran for the second time; they have worked together earlier in Thavamaai Thavamirundu. Padmapriya, who has a penchant to learn new things all the time, has decided to make the most of her participation in a film directed by Cheran, whom she regards highly as a director. Every morning Padmapriya is present on the sets of Pokkisham exactly at 7:00 a.m. - well before her schedule - to assist Cheran in his directorial work.
Speaking about this, Padmapriya said she has always been creatively inclined and always wanted to present her thoughts in a convincing manner. She thinks film direction gives her ample scope to convey her ideas in a better way, and that is the reason she wanted to learn this art. She said that she is quite lucky to be getting an on-the-job training directly from a master of the trade.
This is not something new to Padmapriya as she had been almost an assistant director to Cheran in Thavamaai Thavamirundhu.
So it will not be surprising when Padmapriya announces her plans to direct a film one day!
