From September 27 to October 3, India will celebrate 'The Joy of Giving Week'. A press meet was held in Chennai to announce the news and it was attended by eminent personalities like Dr Pratap Reddy, N Vaghul, Lemuel Herbert, Suriya (the actor is the goodwill ambassador of the Tanker Foundation), Mahadevan of Oriental Cuisines, Vandana Gopikumar of Banyan and actress Shriya.
Conceptualised by GiveIndia, this unique and ambitious initiative aims to get people from all walks of life to engage in acts of giving - money, time, skills or simple acts of kindness.
Suriya pledged to support the initiative by not only giving 10 per cent of his salary to his Agaram Foundation, but also devoting a day every month for charity work.
Shriya appealed to everyone to come forward and take part in the 'The Joy of Giving Week'.
