According to Soundarya, the native fighters, who are participating in the action scenes, will be available only in Vietnam and the particular action scene is very important to the film.

Rajinikanth’s daughter seems to follow the corporate way of making movies by planning for more than one film and simultaneously announcing and starting the work on the different projects at the same time.

A new big project to be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi will be made with the Tollywood hero Mahesh Babu in the lead role.The super hit director Puri Jagannath will be the director in charge of the new mega project of Soundarya Rajinikanth.However the movie’s work will start only next April with December 2009 being planned as the time for the release.

Baazigar is as different from that Bollywood routinely shovels out as the sun is from the moon. Out to avenge the grave injustice to his family, Shah Rukh Khan as Ajay turns in a fine performance. Ajay woos Seema (Shilpa Shetty) and Priya (Kajol), the daughters of his enemy Madan Chopra (Dalip Tahil), as part of his game plan to destroy Madan. Director P. Vasu has bought the remake rights of the 1993 blockbuster and his son Shakti will play the lead role. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised.. This film will hit the floors once Kuselan has been canned. Shakti made his debut in the film Thottaal Poo Malarum but the film bombed in the box office due to monotonous storyline. The Great Khali has conquered the hearts of Tamil fans. The Great Khali, the WWE star who is now on vacation, in Tamil Nadu. He was seen in Karaikudi, where the shooting for the Bollywood film Khusthi was going on. This is a film which stars Rajpal Yadav, the comedy king of Bollywood. Khali has a character role in it. The shooting of this film took place in Madurai, Aathamakudi (Sivagangai district), and Karaikudi of Tamil Nadu.

Khali said that he was overwhelmed by the love and support received from the people of Tamil Nadu. He was surprised at the reach he has even in small villages of Tamil Nadu. He added that he knows the impact of WWE, but never expected to be this famous and that too, in villages in down South. The giant was especially surprised with the hospitality of people in Tamil Nadu and their admiration for sports like bodybuilding and wrestling.

Khali makes sporadic appearances in Hollywood films with powerful cameos. This is his first venture in Indian movies. When asked if he has plans to act in Kollywood movies, now that he has forayed into Indian movies and is in Tamil Nadu, he answered that he would love to, if given a chance. He said he has not yet been approached by anyone from Kollywood.

Now, since he is already here in Tamil Nadu, will we have producers and directors from Kollywood signing him for their projects? Well let’s wait and watch.

One of the best moments came a few days after the release of my film Paruthiveeran. Bharathi Raja sir and Balu Mahendra sir are two most important people in my life and I respect them as my guru. After watching me on screen in Paruthiveeran, Bharathi Raja sir called me up and complimented on my work saying that he could see a growth in me as an actress and I would make it big in Kollywood. These words from him still ring in my mind and overwhelms me to the core.

Another joyous moment followed soon when Balu sir gave me a call. He treats me like his daughter and addresses me as yen ponnu (My daughter).He expressed his joy to see his daughter on screen doing so well. That moment made me speechless as getting compliments from someone who has taught me acting wasn’t a small thing.

The Tamil superstar quit smoking on screen after Ramadoss made an appeal to him to give up cigarette smoking mannerism on screen. "There were no smoking scenes in Rajnikanth’s last two movies and they were biggest grossers in the history of Indian films," Ramadoss told news channel.

Ramadoss came under the radar of Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan after he appealed to them to stop smoking in movies. Both the stars hit back at the minister saying they don’t want his advice.

The unmistakeable after-wedding glow lingers on even as she talks about her recent releases -- Anasuya and Swagatham. “I signed these films around the same time. It was a conscious decision to do a strong role (Anasuya) on one side and an entertainer (Swagatham) on the other to avoid getting slotted into the so-called woman-centric films,” she says. Bhoomika hates films being branded as women-centric. “When a film is based on the hero, no one says it’s a male-centric film. We can do without stereotyped classification.”

Basking in the critical acclaim she’s received for Anasuya, she recalls being sceptical about the project. “My blind faith took me forward.” The task was easier, she says, since Ravi Babu was meticulous. “He was sure of what he wanted. He’d tell me if a crime reporter would be brisk or chilled out in a given situation and how his/her feet would move.”

She will again be doing a balancing act with Malle Poovu and an untitled thriller with Srikanth. “Both these films will also release around the same time. Again I’ll have one offbeat film and a mainstream entertainer,” she says. There’s also a thriller directed by E. Niwas in the pipeline. Called 90 minutes, the story unfolds in 90 minutes “There are different ways in which I select my films,” she explains. “I am instinctive. If I don’t want to do a film I find better ways to say it. I can get into a bad mess in my head if I accept something I’m not convinced about. I’d accept a film that has a reasonable script if it’s backed by a good director. Thirdly, if the team is good and the film is unusual, I don’t mind doing a shorter role.” A case in point for the last instance is Gandhi My Father. “Films like these don’t get made every year,” she says.

Reflecting on her career, she says, “I’ve done 30 films and I’m happy. A lot of people told me I could have made it really big after Tere Naam. I can’t run too hard to stay in the race.” Prod her if she shied away from the rat race in Bollywood since it demands a high glamour quotient and she agrees. “How long can you live from one Friday to another worrying about what clothes to wear or take off? It isn’t like I resigned to doing less work. Mujhe zyaada kaam karna hi nahi hai. Even when I am shooting, I think of playing a game on playstation.”

Marriage, she says, hasn’t changed things. “People have been kind to me. I think directors don’t want to lose good talent.” At home, though, she’s enjoying her new role. “Looking back, it’s funny. When I joined Bharat’s yoga classes, it took me a month to break the ice and speak to him. My only intention was to learn yoga,” she laughs.

Kushboo had earlier this year moved the Madras High Court seeking to quash all the cases lodged against her in various courts. Madras High Court however had dismissed her petition April 30 last. The high court, however, transferred all cases against her to the chief metropolitan magistrate’s court in Egmore in Chennai. The high court had also directed that the trial of the actress be completed in six months.

The Board, which issued certificate to the film on April 22, said it was fully convinced by the film. The bench posted the matter for hearing to next week and asked the respondents to file counters.

Balanchander who was honored with the life time achievement award by the Rotary Club not only got another recognition for his great contribution to the Tamil Film Industry but also was presented with words of admiration from none other than the acclaimed lyric writer Vairamuthu.

The lyricist spoke about the film making ways of K. Balachander and said that he was grateful to the director for giving him work in three films ’Vaaname Ellai’, ’Annamalai’, and ’Roja’, when he was without any work.

Vairamuthu said that the experienced director should be honored with the Dada Saheb Phalke award and also let the government of Tamilnadu his request for introducing a state award in the name of the legendry director.

This Madhesh-directed venture accords legislator Vijaykanth a free hand to exhibit enough brains and brawn to trigger endorsement from a rural audience.

Vijaykanth plays ’Arivarasu’ - a name that translates into English as ’monarch of intelligence’ - heading a police training academy and living a nondescript, happily married (wife played by Punjab import Navneet Kaur, wasted) existence.

Extricated from mothballs following the murder of vital scientists and entrepreneurs who have created a pathbreaking invention to help India and the kidnap of a vital police officer-cum-brother-in-law Manoj (Biju Menon, adequate), Arivarasu is asked to solve the mysteries.

Instead of being another Rambo, Arivarasu uses his brain, traipses around Canada where he is assisted by Lara, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer (Seril Brindo), rescues Manoj and extricates the nation’s future from the baddies headed by Chandru (Rahul Dev, no surprises) eventually.

Vijaykanth acts his age and puts in a spirited performance. The action is slickly choreographed by "Rocky" Rajesh.

Director Madhesh has arrayed enough scantily clad females to entertain the frontbenchers.

In a word, ’Arasangam’ is a treat for diehard Vijaykanth fans thanks to a passably decent screenplay.

Aishwarya, who won the Miss World beauty pageant in 1994, waited for three years before making her debut in acting. Although Aishwarya was approached by several Bollywood producers to act in their films, it was Mani Ratnam whom she chose as the director for her debut film, Iruvar which was released 1997 with Mohanlal as her leading man. This film also marked Mohanlal’s debut in Tamil films. She stepped into Bollywood in the same year with Aur Pyar Ho Gaya with Bobby Deol.

Both these films failed to create wonders at the box-office. However, her third project Jeans, directed by Shankar earned her the Filmfare Best Actress Award (South) and gave her box-office. She went on to act in Bollywood and met with success. That was the last time that she acted in a straight Tamil movie as she got busy in Hindi and later, in English movies. In 2006, she was the heroine of Mani Ratnam’s Guru, originally made in Hindi and dubbed in Tamil. Jodhaa Akbar with Hrithik Roshan was also dubbed in Tamil.

She started her career with the superstar of Malayalam cinema, the two-time National Award winner Mohanlal; now, her comeback to Tamil is with Superstar Rajinikanth. The Tamil audience has always kept her in their hearts and is now expecting a magnificent performance from her.

Priya, you have gone glam post -Paruthiveeran?
It’s not right to compare that film with the others because Paruthiveeran is a once in a lifetime role for me. But I definitely wanted to shed the village girl image as in our industry; you always seem to be typecast. Luckily for me Malaikottai happened and I utilized it. I am happy to be exploring different types of characters in films.

Who are you supporting in the current IPL matches? Any favourites?
I support all the teams and I think it’s really great that we can watch so many international players playing with emerging Indian youth. I think the dark horses are the Rajasthan Royals led by the shrewd Shane Warne. As for favourites I like Adam Gilchrist and Dhoni.

What are your next projects?
I am doing a Malayalam film with Prithviraj as hero directed by Ranjith. I am also doing a Telugu film and then do the remake of Malayalm film Classmates.

What kind of movies do you want to do? How about women-centric films?
I want to be versatile. In India it’s not really possible to have many heroine oriented movies. I feel that this should change and I hope it happens soon.

Vishal has said that he is not in love with you. Please comment
I am not in love with anyone. I also consider myself fortunate not to have fallen in love as yet. I am single and I love being like that. It is fun and I am enjoying life.

What about rumours linking you with a Telugu actor?
If you are referring to Raja, we are just good friends. When I go to Hyderabad we catch up with each other and meet up for dinner when we have the time. There’s nothing more to it. Right now, I am in love with my work (smiles).

This trend of a summer biggie trailer be shown with another equally big summer release that comes earlier was started by the Hollywood studios. The well attended function saw a large turnout of Vishal fans. As the actor drove into the venue, they lit a huge round of firecrackers. Later the fan clubs came on stage to garland their hero who was given the title Puratchi Thalapathy and to take pictures with him. The event was compered by the effervescent and chirpy emcee Bosskey who made sure that there was never a dull moment throughout the function.

The occasion was attended by several luminaries from Kollywood including M. Jeyam Ravi in his light hearted speech praised his friend Vishal and recounted that he could understand how happy an artist would be only today, since he had never had any similar function organized by his father for his own films!

Vishal in his speech said “The screenplay was the real hero of this film and I am really grateful to all the co-artistes who helped make this film a success.” The actor suddenly made a surprise announcement stating, “I would like to clear the speculation in the press all these days. I am not in love with Priyamani. She deserves a guy better than me. And its not Nayanthara either..”
